Tomorrow I will have a good friend visiting service. I have known Dick VanHuss since I was in high school. He was a counselor at church camp when I was a youth. He became a mentor to me and has made a big impact in my life. He gave me leadership opportunities at a young age. When I was right out of college and at my first youth pastorate, He appointed me men's dean at that same camp. I was leading counselors that were older than I was. It was a stretching experience for me. Dick will give a "window to the world" tomorrow morning. He has recently been appointed a US missionary. He will be involved with Global University on the US side. I am looking forward to seeing him again.
After the service Dick will conduct a survey with our church leadership. This survey will help us to see where our church is strong and what areas we can improve upon.
We had around 20 people at the workday today. The attendance was not as good as last year but we still got a lot done. Simply adding mulch to the flower beds makes a big difference. The outside grounds look nice.
