Scripture
1 Corinthians 15:58 “So, my dear brothers and sisters, be strong and steady, always enthusiastic about the Lord’s work, for you know that nothing you do for the lord is ever useless.”
Observation
Paul is concluding his letter to the church in
Paul teaches them to be enthusiastic. There should be an excitement and sense of expectation in ministry. Notice this is our choice. We can choose to be strong and steady. We can choose to be excited about ministry. The reason we can be excited about ministry is everything we do for God matters in eternity. Nothing is in vain. Nothing is useless. It is encouraging to know that everything you do for God makes a difference.
Application
It is my responsibility to keep myself motivated in ministry. It is not some feeling that comes from heaven. I am to be a self starter. I am to be self motivated. I motivate myself in ministry based on the belief that what I do for God matters. It is never in vain. Sometimes I do not see the results. I cannot base my zeal for ministry on what I see or feel. It is a faith walk. The Bible says that nothing I do for the Lord is ever useless. It counts. I believe the Word of God and act on it. This keeps me motivated in ministry during the hard times and during the dry times.
Prayer
I want to be faithful. I want to have a sense of excellence in my life. Whatever I do for the Lord I want to do it with all my heart. I want to give God my best efforts. I want to keep my zeal and enthusiasm in what I do. I don’t want to go through the motions but be passionate about God and his church.
