July 11 devotional

Scripture

1 Chronicles 11:9 “And David became more and more powerful, because The Lord Almighty was with him.”

Observation

What a great verse! David’s power was tied to God’s presence. The more David had of God’s presence and the more time David spent in God’s presence, the more powerful David became.

David’s power was not something he conjured up. It was not a formula or a method. David had the favor of God. David did nothing to make himself more powerful, it was a gift from God. God was with him. David experienced God’s presence and power. David experienced God’s blessing. Because of the blessing of God upon his life, David’s influence grew. David became more powerful. His throne was established because God was with him.

Application

1) If I want more power, I need more of God. God’s power comes with His presence. The gifts of the spirit are a result of the manifestation of the spirit. When I get God, I get everything that comes with God. This includes his gifts, miracles, signs, and wonders.

2) If I want more influence in the kingdom of God, it comes from God’s favor. The most important thing in my life is God’s blessing. I cannot earn his love or my salvation but I can live to please him. I can desire to receive his blessing. God’s blessing upon my life will give me greater influence in his kingdom.

Prayer

Father I ask for your presence and favor. I desire for you to bless me. I need more of you. I want your pleasure on my life. I ask that your hand be with me. My future is dependent on you being with me. Be with me today. Be with me as I minister tomorrow. I ask for your presence, power, favor, and blessing to be upon me
